Canada welcomes Americans arriving by boat as we always have – but there are different requirements to enter or return to the U.S.A. Check on requirements before you go. Two programs allow boats to enter U.S. waters and land on shore, if they have either of these documents with them: NEXUS and I-68 forms. Without it, boaters are not allowed to land or contact anyone without physically reporting to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection office. Boaters should know that law enforcement agents are allowed to search any vessel for any reason near the invisible water border between Canada and the U.S.A.
